The Sign of the Cross:

In the name of the father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

The Our Father:

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

The Hail Mary:

Hail Mary full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death Amen.

Morning Offering:

O Jesus, through the immaculate heart of Mary, I offer you my prayers, works, joys and sufferings of this day in union with the holy sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world. I offer them for all the intentions of your sacred heart: the salvation of souls, reparation for sin, the reunion of all Christians. I offer them for the intentions of our bishops and of all the apostles of prayer, and in particular for those recommended by our Holy Father this month.

Act of Contrition:

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended You and I detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell, but most of all because they offend you, my God, who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of your grace, to confess my sins, to do penance and to amend my life.

Prayer Before Meals:

Bless us Oh Lord, and these thy gifts, which we are about to receive, from thy bounty, through Christ, Our Lord. Amen.

Prayer After Meals:

We give You thanks, Almighty God, for these and all your blessings; As you live and reign for ever and ever. Amen

Anima Christi:

Soul of Christ, make me holy. Body of Christ, save me. Blood of Christ, fill me with love. Water from Christ's side, wash me. Passion of Christ, strengthen me. Good Jesus, hear me. Within your wounds, hide me. Never let me be parted from you. From the evil enemy, protect me. At the hour of my death, call me. And tell me to come to you. That with your saints I may praise you. Through all eternity. Amen

.Memorare:

Remember, O most loving Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, we turn to you, O Virgins of virgins, our Mother. To you we come, before you we stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, do not despise our petitions, but in your mercy hear us and answer us. Amen.

The Hail, Holy Queen or

Salve Regina

'Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope.  To thee do we come, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.  Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us.  And after this our exile, show unto us the Blessed Fruit of thy womb, Jesus.  O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

V. Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God.
R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us pray:

O God, Whose only Begotten Son, by His life, death, and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life. Grant, we beseech thee, that meditating upon these mysteries of the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain, and obtain to what they promise, through same Christ Our Lord.  Amen'

The Angelus:

V- The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary. R- And she conceived of the Holy Spirit. (Hail Mary....) V- Behold the handmaid of the Lord. R- Be it done unto me according to thy word. (Hail Mary....) V- And the Word was made Flesh. R- And dwelt among us. (Hail Mary....) V- Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God. R- That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. LET US PRAY: Pour forth, we beseech Thee, O Lord, Thy grace into our hearts; that, we to whom the Incarnation of Christ, Thy Son, was made known by the message of an Angel, may by His Passion and Cross, be brought to the glory of His Resurrection. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen. Traditionally, the Angelus is said at 6 - 12 - 6.

Glory Be:

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Come Holy Spirit:

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful and kindle in them the fire of Your love. Send forth Your Spirit, and they shall be created; And You will renew the face of the earth. O God, on the first Pentecost You instructed the hearts of those who believed in You by the light of the Holy Spirit; Under the inspiration of the same Spirit, give us a taste for what is right and true and a continuing sense of His presence and power; Through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen.

The Apostles Creed:

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary; suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

The Nicene Creed:

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth of all that is seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us men and our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered, died, and was buried. On the third day he rose again in fulfilment of the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

The Divine Praises:

Blessed be God. Blessed be His Holy Name. Blessed be Jesus Christ, true God and true Man. Blessed be the Name of Jesus. Blessed be His Most Sacred Heart. Blessed be Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar. Blessed be the great Mother of God, Mary most Holy. Blessed be her Holy and Immaculate Conception. Blessed be her Glorious Assumption. Blessed be the Name of Mary, Virgin and Mother. Blessed be St. Joseph, her most chaste spouse. Blessed be God in His Angels and in His Saints.

Christmas Novena
Begins December 16th
and recite each day for nine days

Divine Infant, after the wonders of Your birth in Bethlehem,
You wished to extend Your infinite mercy to the whole world by
calling the Wise Men by heavenly inspiration to Your crib, which
was in this way changed into a royal throne. You graciously received those holy men who were obedient to the divine call and hastened toYour feet. They recognized and worshipped You as Prince of Peace, the Redeemer of mankind, and the very Son of God.

Show us also Your goodness and almighty power. Enlighten our minds, strengthen our wills, and inflame our hearts to know You, to serve You, and to love You in this life, that we may merit to find our joy in You eternally in the life to come.

Jesus, most powerful Child, I implore You again to help me: (mention your request).

Divine Child, great omnipotent God, I implore through Your most
Holy Mother's most powerful intercession, and through the boundless mercy of Your omnipotence as God, for a favourable answer to my prayer during this Novena.

Grant me the grace of possessing You eternally with Mary and Joseph and of adoring You with Your holy angels and saints. Amen.

Prayer to St. Thomas Becket

Prayer to St. Thomas

Feast Day - December 29

Gracious Father, Saint Thomas was famed for his opulence and his status as the most powerful man in England second to the king. Everything changed when he became a priest to be consecrated archbishop. He completely turned his life around and began to live piously. He was soon opposing the king to defend the Church’s rights. I ask him to pray for the politicians of today. O Lord, give them motivation to turn away from the love of money and prestige and to begin serving Your kingdom more than their earthly domains. Forgive them their sins and lead them to heaven. Saint Thomas, pray for us. Amen

From: The Tablet Oct 19, 2002

Pope calls for rosary revival. Pope John Paul II is adding to the rosary five new mysteries dedicated to episodes from Jesus’ public life.

The new rosary themes will focus on Jesus’ baptism, his first miracle, his preaching ministry, his transfiguration and his institution of the Eucharist, a Vatican spokesman said on 14 October. The Pope’s initiative is contained in his apostolic letter, Rosarium Virginis Mariae (“The Rosary of the Virgin Mary”), published on 16 October, the 24th anniversary of his election.

Since the 1500s, the rosary has been recited in a series of three mysteries –joyful, sorrowful and glorious – each of which has five themes dedicated to episodes in the lives of Christ and Mary.

The themes of the five new “mysteries of light” are:

  • Christ’s baptism in the River Jordan.
  • His self-revelation at the marriage of Cana.
  • His announcement of the kingdom of God with the invitation to conversion.
  • His Transfiguration, when he revealed his glory to his Apostles.
  • The institution of the Eucharist at the Last Supper.

In his document, the Pope asks that the “mysteries of light” be recited especially on Sundays, the official said. Traditionally, mysteries of the rosary have been dedicated to specific days of the week: the joyful mysteries recited on Mondays and Thursdays, the sorrowful mysteries on Tuesdays and Fridays, and the glorious mysteries on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

In his document, the Pope said he respected the traditional form of the rosary and did not want to change it. But he also spoke of the rosary’s evolution as a prayer form and said the “mysteries of light” made an appropriate modern contribution.

The Pope may have drawn inspiration from a Maltese priest he beatified in 2001, Blessed George Preca. In 1957, Preca devised five new mysteries corresponding to events in Jesus’ public life and called them “mysteries of light”; they are similar to those formulated by the Pope.

The other 15 mysteries were standardised by Pope Pius V in 1569.
